Blackberry fans are eagerly awaiting RIM’s new baby, the 9800 slider, but will others care?
Based on the screen resolution, it seems like RIM is a year late with their new high-end smartphone. It has an OK design (I don’t like the lower end) and a modern OS (v6.0), but a 480×360 screen resolution…when others go as high as 960×720 (even if you can’t make phone calls or if it catches fire…).
Don’t get me wrong, it is a welcome addition to the product line. Finally the best communication tool for calling and emailing people gets a touch screen and a modern OS, but somehow, I don’t think many consumers will switch from an Android or iPhone phone to this and it doesn’t seem to bring new enterprise features, so businesses may just upgrade to the 9700a (OSv6, more memory) or switch to Android, securing their data with solutions from Good or Sybase.
