The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) has been given the boot by the European Parliament
0It’s great news for privacy advocates and European citizens. Some private organisations were trying to pass laws that would monitor citizens’ use of the Internet and the process has been deemed un-democratic and its content harmful to fundamental freedoms and the Internet ecosystem.
Voice Actions for Android is amazing :)
0Google made some impressive demonstrations today. You can do a lot of things by just giving orders to your Android phone.
Here is a list of actions:
- Send text messages
- Listen to music
- Get directions
- Call businesses
- Call contacts
- Send email
- View a map
- Go to websites
- Write a note
- Search Google
Some of these voice-actions are not really new, but it works extremely well on an Android phones (Froyo min.).
On top of that they demoed the automatic translation tool and it is amazing
.
Watch the IFA keynote to see the demos:

The new Archos tablets are sexy!
0Archos is going to release a lot of tablets this month, all running Android and they look good
.
You’ll get the full Web experience on them (HTML5 AND Flash) and HD video playback.
AppleTV 2, a slimmed down PS3 slim, without the gaming hardware…
0Apple discovered that consumers are using their PS3 to stream content from the Internet and decided to do the same by releasing AppleTV 2. It’s nothing more than iTunes connected to your TV.
The WePad is the best selling Tablet on Amazon.de
1Interesting…The WePad won’t be shipped for another month, but it’s already ahead of the rest on amazon.de… Probably because fanbois go to the local temple to buy their gear and because the rest of us buy our 3G gear subsidised from a phone shop.
Anyway, that Android powered device is also available for order on Mediamarkt and will probably be pretty popular with people that need a device with better connectivity than an iPad, a 16/9 HD screen and a book reader that isn’t restricted.
I really see this as a good home or office device, while the Samsung Tablet and Dell Streak will be better suited for people that need the Real Internet on the go.
